Since 2012, Street Food Cinema has invited Angelenos to meals, films and fun—from Arcadia to Manhattan Beach, Glendale and Pacific Palisades.
Palisadians can join the festivities Saturday evening, September 9, with an outdoor screening of “Dirty Dancing” at Will Rogers State Historic Park.
“Spending the summer at a Catskills resort with her family, Frances ‘Baby’ Houseman falls in love with the camp’s dance instructor, Johnny Castle,” according to a summary on IMDb.
The 1987 film, directed by Emile Ardolino and written by Eleanor Bergstein, stars Patrick Swayze as Johnny, Jennifer Grey as Frances “Baby,” Cynthia Rhodes as Penny and Kelly Bishop as Marjorie, Frances’ mother.
The film has earned a number of awards, including an Academy Award for Best Original Song, a Golden Globe for Best Original Song – Motion Picture, a Grammy and more.
A number of food trucks will cater the event, including Dina’s Dumplings, District Burger, Eastside Chessecakes, Go Beyond the Bowl and Tropic Truck. The event will be emceed by Justine Marino with music from Haley Fishberger.
Guests can purchase general admission tickets in advance for $22, and tickets for children ages 6 to 12 for $10. At the door, guests can purchase general admission tickets for $27, and tickets for children ages 6 to 12 for $15. Children 5 and younger are free.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the film is slated to begin at 8 p.m.
For those who can’t make it to “Dirty Dancing,” Street Food Cinema will return to Will Rogers State Historic Park on Saturday, October 7, with a screening of “Practical Magic.”
