Sotheby’s International Realty will be moving its Pacific Palisades office to 15140 Sunset Boulevard, a space formerly occupied by Norris Hardware, which it will share with Anawalt’s Palisades Hardware, eyeing a summer 2023 move-in date.
When Norris Hardware closed in 2018 after 38 years in the neighborhood, the building sat vacant for nearly two years. Anawalt announced it would open into a portion of the Sunset Boulevard space in February 2020.
The real estate brokerage has an international network that spans across 74 countries and territories, from the Bahamas, France, Tokyo and beyond.
Vice President and Brokerage Manager of the local branch of Sotheby’s Cristian David told the Palisadian-Post the team’s previous lease in the Business Block Building was up, and “it was time to look for something else.” The previous office opened in 2009 and was located near Sunset Boulevard and Swarthmore Avenue.
David said choosing to relocate to the space that previously housed Norris Hardware was an “easy yes.”
“We love the visibility of the office,” he said to the Post. “The other one was great and it was right across from the Village, but we were in the back a little bit. This one is right on the sidewalk, next to Ralphs … I think we’ll have a lot of visibility there and a presence in the community.”
David said the Sotheby’s team will be working out of its Wilshire office until the new office is complete.
“We’re shooting for summer 2023,” David said. “Once the office is ready, we’ll be back there in the Palisades. We’re very excited.”
David shared that the new office is going to be “elegant, beachy and sophisticated … just like the brand.”
With 5,000 square feet and two stories, David said he is excited to welcome Palisadians into the new space and host future events.
“We’ve been in the Palisades for so long, and we just want to thank the community and the clients that we have in the area,” he said. “It is such a great community to be part of and our agents … when we were looking at other options, they all told me—the ones that are native or have been in the Palisades for a long time—that this is a special community, and we have to be here and we have to be present. We’re doing just that.”
