“The Taming of the Shrew” opens at Will Geer’s Theatricum Botanicum at 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, and plays through the summer. The Theatricum is located at 1419 N. Topanga Canyon Blvd., between PCH and the San Fernando Valley.
Shakespeare’s infamous courting, wedding and bedding of the scrappy, rowdy, notorious couple, Kate and Petruchio, rings out through the ages. Is Kate a shrew? Or is she a woman who speaks her mind? Is Petruchio a macho tough guy? Or is he someone who is strong enough in heart to see a great thing when it is in front of him.
Ellen Geer directs the production, which stars Willow Geer as Kate and Aaron Hendry as Petruchio, and features Christine Breihan, Bill Gunther, Christopher W. Jones, John Maidman, Melora Marshall, Gerald C. Rivers, Franc Ross and Jeff Wiesen.
A reception with the actors will follow Saturday’s performance. For tickets ($10-$35), visit theatricum.com.
