The Pali Sharks, a local 13U travel team, won their first two games of a three weekend tournament in Sylmar last Sunday. In the Sharks’ first game against the Stealers, pitcher Brandon Bendel allowed one hit and zero runs over four innings before being relieved by Jude De Pastino and then Sammy Dunn. Bendel, De Pastino and Beau Schinto each scored two runs and Jimmy Levy, Jack Michael, Max Meier and Luke Connon scored one run apiece in a 10-3 victory.
In the second game against the Brewers, Levy was intimidating on the mound, giving up four hits and two runs in four innings with seven strikeouts and no walks. The Sharks’ offense exploded for six runs in the third inning and Bendel hit a home run in a 9-3 win.
“These boys played all day as one cohesive unit” said head coach Rick Zeitlin, who is assisted by Ollie Dunn. In February, the Sharks won the SCV Spring Classic, beating the Palmdale Portillos in the final. Quincy Watson, Michael, Dunn, Beau Schinto and Joaquin Scholer all got hits.
