
Another year of sports is in the books at Palisades High and a number of athletes were recognized during the school’s Senior Awards Banquet last Friday.
Receiving Booster Club Exceptional Athlete Awards were Demonnie Lagway (girls baskeball); Mona Abai (girls soccer); Adrianna Canas (softball); Addie Saab (girls water polo, swimming); Abigail Sheridan (girls lacrosse); Kaia Kanan (girls volleyball); Jacob Herrera (baseball); Charlie Moore (boys baskeball); Bill Enkhbold (boys golf); Michael Kaplan (boys tennis); Charlie Addis (wrestling); Joe Sevilla (cross country, track); and Gus Wibbelsman (boys volleyball).


Lagway shared City Player of the Year honors with teammate Alexis Pettis last year and made the All-City First Team in March after leading the Dolphins to the Open Division semifinals. She won three section titles in four years and has committed to Cal State Fullerton.
Abai, a midfielder and co-captain, earned All-Western League First Team honors and won the Held Family Spirit Award for her attitude and leadership. She had four goals and three assists in her 10 games played.


Canas, a four-year player headed to Pepperdine, started at catcher and third base this spring, with 13 hits, 14 RBIs, 11 runs and two stolen bases in 13 games.
Saab won City crowns in two sports, tallying five goals and six steals in the water polo final and scoring freestyle and relay points in the swim finals in May.
Kanan, who was the City MVP as a junior, was Palisades’ setter and an All-League and All-City First Teamer in the fall, guiding Palisades to the semifinals.
Sheridan was a stalwart in goal and her clutch saves helped the Dolphins return to the City finals.


Herrera co-captained Palisades to the league title, scoring a team-best 41 runs with 29 hits, 22 RBIs and 31 steals in 27 games.
Moore was the Dolphins’ top scorer, an All-City choice and Outstanding Player in the Western League.
Enkhbold, who is bound for UC Riverside, shot -1 with three birdies to place sixth at City finals at Harding.
Kaplan won the City Individual singles title two weeks after leading the Dolphins to the team title this spring. He won the City doubles title as a freshman.

Addis co-captained the Dolphins to first place at regionals and pinned all four of his opponents in the first period to win the City 152-pound division.
Sevilla was fourth in the Division I race at the City cross country finals in November and took third in the 3200 meter race on the track last month.
Wibbelsman shared City MVP honors, pacing his squad in kills and hitting percentage en route to the title.
