Palisadian Scott Heineman, a sophomore outfielder for the No. 9-ranked Oregon Ducks, went 1-for-4 on Monday in Oregon’s 11-4 loss to No. 20 Rice in the NCAA Eugene Regional Tournament. That performance followed a 2-for-4, 3 RBI effort in an 11-0 win over Rice on Sunday. Rice advanced to the Super Regionals.
Heineman, who graduated from Windward Academy, has had a good season for Oregon, batting .279 with four home runs and 38 RBIs overall. His home run and RBI totals are second-best on the team, and he tied for second with 91 total bases and 12 stolen bases.
Heineman stepped up his play in Pac-12 play, batting .321, second on the team, with three home runs and 21 runs batted in over 29 games, including 26 starts. He collected 35 hits over 107 at-bats.
The Ducks finished their season 48-16 overall, and went 22-8 in Pac-12 play.
Heineman’s older brother, Tyler, who was a standout catcher at UCLA, is having a strong season for the Lancaster JetHawks, an affiliate of the Houston Astros in the Class A Advanced California League.
In 37 games, Heineman is batting .333 with two home runs and 20 RBI and a .424 on-base percentage.
