Determined to Succeed to Host Inaugural Fundraiser on June 1
By SARAH SHMERLING | Editor-in-Chief
Determined to Succeed will host its first-ever “School’s Out for Summer” fundraiser on June 1 at 6 p.m. at the Jonathan Club Sand Deck—Palisadian Diana Monaco, who serves as director of philanthropy, shared.
“Be part of this signature event that will ensure our students continue to receive the year-round support they need to achieve their dream of graduating from college and entering a meaningful career,” according to DTS, which is led by Executive Director Mimi Neandross, a graduate of Palisades Charter High School.
The event will feature actor Adam Rodriguez—best known for his role of Eric Delko on “CSI: Miami”—who will serve as Master of Ceremonies. Rodriguez is a board member for nonprofit LIFT-LA, which is “focused on ending the cycle of poverty through academic and financial education,” in addition to family support and mental health services.
The evening will include comedian Francisco Ramos, dinner, and live and silent auctions—all of which will support DTS’ “year-round programming for low-income, first-generation” college students.
“Determined to Succeed provides the opportunity for underserved students to attend and graduate from college with the knowledge, life skills and tools needed to succeed,” according to information shared by the organization.
Jonathan Beach Club is located at 850 Palisades Beach Road in Santa Monica. Tickets are available for $250 at dtsla.org.
