The news for Donald Trump, the beleaguered presidential candidate, only grows worse.
On top of allegations of sexual misconduct, financial malfeasance and uncivil discourse, he is facing a ban by fellow-Republican Rick Caruso from sipping a latte at his outdoor shopping outlets—and that includes the 2.8-acre Palisades Village after it opens in two years time.
Asked by a TMZ photographer whether, in the light of an NBC video documenting Trump saying disturbing things about women, he would ban “The Donald” from his properties as he has other “unwelcome people,” Caruso replied unambiguously, “I would be happy to do that.”
The billionaire property developer is a long-term Republican who supported John Kasich, the governor of Ohio, in his 2016 presidential campaign.
Kasich was described by one critic as too sane for this presidential cycle.
Caruso, who may run for mayor of Los Angeles in 2021, said he has no time for Trump.
“If you want to be in public office you have got to be compassionate, you have got to be professional, you have got to be a gentleman. I just don’t see him being any of that.”
He added that Trump, who is trailing in most polls, seemed like a “pretty angry human being,” adding, “I am not into that.”
Caruso is regarded as a independent-minded Republican, who will cross political lines to get business done; he hosted a fundraiser for Councilmember Mike Bonin, the Democratic contender who now represents Pacific Palisades at City Hall.
Trump would not be the first public figure to be banned from a Caruso development, which are all private properties. Manny Pacquiao, the boxer, has been forbidden from returning to The Grove after making anti-gay “hate speech.” Twice.
