Richard “Dick” Kurth Diehl, passed away at age 78, at home in Pacific Palisades, California, on May 9 after a prolonged battle with Parkinson’s disease. He is survived by his dedicated and loving partner of 33 years Belinda Ballash, siblings Ruth and Cliff and their families, children Clark, Scott and Stacy, a granddaughter Natalie Ann Diehl as well as Belinda’s siblings and their families.
Dick had a long and fulfilling career across numerous industries including consumer products, financial services, telecommunications, wholesale distribution, consulting, real estate, financial intermediary, project management and, of course, milkman.
In his free time, he authored three novels. He was a man of great commitment to higher education and proudly made it possible for his three children to attend college. Dick was born in Chicago, Illinois, matriculated at Beloit College in Wisconsin where he was Phi Beta Kappa, ran track and was senior editor of the yearbook. Dick also earned an MBA from the University of Chicago.
Beyond his family, Dick’s passion was business and its attendant networking. He was generous with his time, eager to impart his vast knowledge to others. He remained active and driven to his final day and will be missed by the many who knew him. He had been a resident of Pacific Palisades since 1970.
A memorial gathering is planned for May 24, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1921 Corinth, West Los Angeles, 90025.
