Marquez Elementary Charter School alumni of the past 22 years are invited to celebrate with retiring teacher Jeff Lantos from 5:30-7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7 at California Pizza Kitchen in Santa Monica.
Lantos, who has been teaching fifth grade at the school since 1987, will officially retire at the end of this year but still participate in the school’s theater productions.

He became a student favorite due to his teaching philosophy which uses music, art, drama and dance to reinforce reading, writing, history and math curriculum.
At the June 7 event, Lantos will have a keyboard on hand to play songs with current and former students. When diners mention Marquez to their waiter, the restaurant will donate 20 percent of profits from the meal to Friends of Marquez to help fund Lantos’ return to continue leading the school’s theater productions.
