In court on Tuesday, Jan. 26, a Sunset Mesa resident was sentenced to six years in prison for attacking a man with a machete near the Shell gas station on Sunset Boulevard and Pacific Coast Highway on Saturday, June 27.
Joshua Lambert and his lawyer, Palisadian Roger Diamond, were pushing for a self-defense motive because Lambert said the victim Robert Elliff had previously threatened him and he had called 911 multiple times for assistance.
Elliff claimed that Lambert slashed him across the chest and severed part of his thumb before he and his girlfriend ran into the gas station.
Lambert is due back in court on March 28 for a restitution hearing, but he waived his right to appearance.
