Ben Affleck is trading his cape in for a pocket protector in “The Accountant,” opening Oct. 14.

The quotidian title misleads, just like Affleck’s autistic protag Christian Wolff.
When Wolff, a math savant, isn’t playing smalltime CPA, he’s a steel-hearted, karate-chopping accountant for a host of bigtime unsavory characters—including drug cartels, arms brokers, money launderers and assassins.
“Say you’re the head of the Sinaloa Cartel, who can you trust to track your stolen cash?” Treasury agent Raymond King (J. K. Simmons) asked in the trailer. Wolff, that’s who.
Anna Kendrick stars
opposite Affleck in an unexpectedly unromantic role. As Affleck’s character explained in the trailer, he’d like to socialize, but, as someone on the autism spectrum, it’s not his strong suit.
Directed by Gavin O’Connor, an all-star cast is rounded out by Jeffrey Tambor, John Lithgow and Jon Bernthal.
Palisadian Affleck and his chiseled jaw have been busy this year. In March, he took the reins as bat-suited Bruce Wayne in “Batman v Superman.” Christmas will see the release of Prohibition Era-crime drama “Live By Night,” which Affleck wrote, directed and stars in.
