The Palisades Recreation Center’s Minors Division girls all-star basketball team made a historic run in the Valley Region Tournament, falling 20-12 to Balboa in Saturday afternoon’s championship game at Balboa Sports Complex in Encino.
The local 9- and 10-year-olds led by five at halftime against Balboa, which beat Palisades by 18 points in the first round of pool play. Coached by Craig Kaplan and Brin Hill, the team consisted of Althea Hill, Olivia Kaplan, Kylie Goldstein, Ava Kaplan, Lauren Forsyth, Keili Klein, Dani Fenster, Jacqui Diaz, Sydney Forsyth and Lilly Robinson.
By reaching the finals Palisades qualified for the Citywide Tournament April 11-12 at Westwood Recreation Center.
