The Pacific Palisades Baseball Association’s 11U All-Stars won the Simi Valley Tournament last week thanks to strong pitching, solid defense and timely hitting. Palisades beat Toluca Lake 11-6 and lost to Newbury Park 6-5 in pool play. Coach Jim Ford’s squad blanked Agoura 8-0 in the quarterfinals. Campbell Ford pitched a one-hitter with no walks and six strikeouts. Davis White had a hit and three RBIs and Troy Winkenhower added a hit and two RBIs.
In the semifinals, Palisades beat Camarillo 10-3. Finn Johnson pitched four innings and Caden Abraham pitched two. Winkenhower had two hits, including a home run and two RBIs, Jake Grossman had two hits, Ford had a hit and three RBIs and Brendan Gardner had one hit and two RBIs. In the finals, Palisades rallied from a 4-0 deficit to beat Simi Valley 6-5. Winkenhower had two hits, including the go-ahead homer, Grossman had two hits and one RBI and Jack Richman added one hit and one RBI. Tommy Farmer, Julian Milner and Sean Nguyen also contributed to Palisades’ championship effort.
