Upon learning that her best friend was been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, 18-year-old Kassy Koenig decided she wanted to raise money for research to help find a cure. On her own, she organized a tennis tournament called “Play the Point to End MS,” to be held Saturday at Riviera Country Club.
The event has been underwritten by the Della & Erich Koenig Foundation and all of the proceeds will go directly to the National MS Society. The event will be from 12 to 5 p.m. Registration begins at 11:30 and round robin doubles play will start at noon. Cocktails, food and a silent auction will follow the tennis.
Koenig is chairing the event herself and Colette Carr is organizing the auction. Celebrities, pro players and tennis enthusiasts from around the country will participate.
To make a donation to support Play the Point to End MS, visit www.playthepointtoendms.org or write a check to The National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Tickets are $500 for the Celebrity Pro-Am, $150 to play with a pro and $35 for spectators.
