Eight-year-old Lila Hernand and her clean-up team, the “Pink Puppy Crew,” hit the streets of the Huntington for the third year in a row to collect post-Halloween trash on the afternoon of Sunday, Nov. 1.
“Everyone throws their garbage on the ground when they walk around trick-or-treating, so for the past two years my friends and I have gotten together to pick up trash after Halloween,” Hernand told the Palisadian-Post after last year’s clean-up.

This year, Hernand was joined by seven friends, including some of the same girls who participated in the candy clean-up last year.
Hernand’s words of wisdom from last year for Halloween trick-or-treaters who litter are as applicable now as ever.
“For those who leave their candy wrappers on the ground on Halloween, can you please not drop your wrappers on the street next time? It makes the earth feel so dirty!” Hernand said.
