Parents gathered Saturday evening, March 4, to support the Paul Revere Charter Middle School PRIDE Booster Club’s annual auction and gala at Annenberg Community Beach House.
This year’s event was organized by Michelle Kelly and Cathy Burrell, with the theme “Revere by the Sea.”
Co-chairs Kelly and Burrell told the Palisadian-Post they served on the committee last year and were happy to take on the lead roles for their final year at Paul Revere.
Participants were invited to purchase tickets to the gala, which included a dinner catered by Marmalade Cafe, drinks and entertainment. Kelly and Burrell reported a turnout of more than 120 attendees.
“While a lot of work, we had a committee that assisted our efforts along with the Pali Ambassadors, who were super eager and energetic in [helping] us make our event successful,” Kelly and Burrell said. “We are thankful for the support of the families and staff at Paul Revere, plus all of the local businesses that donated items for the auction.”
This year’s auction boasted a number of local items, including gift cards to eateries like Pearl Dragon, Hank’s, Porta Via, the yogurt shoppe and Erewhon; a gift card to spend at Veronica Beard or LATE Clothing; a gift basket from The Little Market; tickets to the Bay Theater; and a gift basket from Palisades-based The Smoke Label.
A number of participants took home a range of experiences, from a stay at Casa Del Mar, the opportunity to ski at Mountain High in Wrightwood, tickets for a Dodgers home game, a three-hour private sailing adventure and tickets to see Andrea Bocelli live at the Hollywood Bowl.
The bidding auction closed at 8 p.m. Saturday evening, but additional items still available as the Post went to print include a personalized message to be displayed on Paul Revere’s marquee, registration fast-passes, reservations to attend the eighth-grade culmination on June 9, piano lessons, tutoring and college prep, and more.
Kelly and Burrell said over $75,000 was raised from the auction, which will support the needs of the school.
“The money raised helps fund smaller class sizes through hired auxiliaries, a state-of-the-art computer lab that can support teaching coding and digital imaging, activities such as the Literary Anthology and the Reflections Art Contest, as well as security, grounds maintenance, beautification, and a host of other services that improve our school,” according to the school’s PRIDE Booster Club.
