More than 20 members of the Palisades Americanism Parade Association have been meeting monthly since January to organize the Fourth of July parade, the pre-fireworks concert and the fireworks show itself. This year’s theme is ‘Home Is Pacific Palisades on the Fourth of July’ (provided by slogan winner Christine Borland) and the grand marshal is Jerry Mathers, famous as Theodore Cleaver on ‘Leave It to Beaver.’

Parade Donations and Grandstand Seats
To reserve a seat in the parade grandstands (the parade starts at 2 p.m.), visit PAPA’s Web site and make a tax-deductible donation of $50 or more. PAPA is an all-volunteer organization that must rely on the community’s financial support’from residents, businesses and civic groups’in order to meet the parade’s $90,000 budget (which includes the fireworks show). ’We appreciate donations of any amount, and recognize your support by offering parade grandstand seating packages and other benefits for donations at the $50 level and above,’ said Ramis Sadrieh, who is serving a second year as PAPA president. ‘This year, we are offering online ticket ordering and e-mail delivery in cooperation with our new provider, Eventbrite. We accept all major credit cards and will promptly deliver your tickets right to your computer.’ ‘
Convertibles and Banner Carriers Needed
The parade committee needs about eight more convertibles and volunteer drivers to chauffeur VIPS in the parade. Anybody interested in providing this service is asked to call Pageantry Productions at (562) 618-5558. In addition, volunteers are needed to carry banners out in front of the bands, floats and various other entries in the parade. This is a great way for kids 10 and older to play a role in the parade, with a minimal time commitment. ’If kids want to carry a banner with a friend or parent, we are happy to arrange that,’ said PAPA People organizer Sylvia Boyd. ‘Simply sign up in advance, and show up at the corner of Via de la Paz and Bowdoin at 1:30 p.m. on July 4 to receive your assignment.’ Boyd’s contacts: (310) 454-9556 and syljonboyd@gmail.com.’
