Palisadian Cambria Lagana, a junior for the St. Monica Catholic High School girls volleyball team, was named to the Camino Real League second team by league coaches in December. Lagana is a second-year varsity setter and outside hitter for the Mariners, who finished third in the Camino Real League this year. In 2010, Lagana was the only non-senior starter in just her sophomore year. A multi-sport athlete, she also plays basketball and runs track. She medaled in the 4 x 100 relay at the CIF Southern Section finals in her freshman season. She also was a Miss Palisades contestant last March and plans to vie for the honor again this year. Meanwhile, fellow Palisadian Kylie Ward excelled in her first season at the varsity level. The junior middle blocker/attacker was named Most Improved Player by Mariners head coach Brenda Gonzalez.
