In perfect harmony with World Oceans Day, a celebration of the life-giving role of oceans, Palisadians Harry Eden, Cheryl Robinson, Kathy Jackson, Marian Niles, Adam Wolman and Norman Helgeson will perform with the Angel City Chorale in their spring concert on Saturday, June 7, and Sunday, June 8.
ACC will reunite with acclaimed composer Christopher Tin to perform “Elements” at the Wilshire United Methodist Church.
Conducted by ACC Founder and Artistic Director Sue Fink, the first half of the concerts will feature selections that explore the four elements in a variety of musical styles including pop, classical and spirituals.
The second half of the program features the West Coast Premiere of Tin’s new song cycle, “The Drop that Contained the Sea,” featuring juxtapositions of rhythms and cultures and depict global visions of water from the snows of Mongolia to the rains of Africa. Each of the 10 pieces is sung in a different language, including Proto-Indo-European, Turkish and Xhosa.
