On April 21, a ceremony was held at the Los Angeles Tennis Center honoring the seniors on the UCLA men’s tennis team after the Bruins’ regular-season finale against Pepperdine.
The Bruins blanked the Waves 4-0 thanks in part to the efforts of redshirt senior and former Palisades High captain Ben Goldberg and junior Roscoe Bellamy, who grew up in the Palisades along with older brother Lucas, now a senior for the Bruins.
Goldberg battled Pepperdine’s Daniel De Jonge through a grueling first-set tiebreak at No. 3 singles but their match never finished as UCLA clinched with the second set still in progress.
Roscoe Bellamy won 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 at the No. 6 singles spot and also paired with Matthew Tsolakyan at No. 3 doubles. He went on to win 6-4, 6-4 in UCLA’s loss to Arizona State in the Pac-12 Championships.
Goldberg and Lucas Bellamy both won the City Individual singles championship, Goldberg in 2015 and Bellamy in 2017.
