If the past two years have carried a lesson, it is that life can change in an instant, and being able to adapt is key. This could mean it is time to turn those dreams into reality, or that a career change is suddenly both necessary and imminent. Momentous realizations like this can be terrifying, and navigating them can seem even more treacherous. How do we turn hobbies and passions into careers? How do we take the swirling ideas in our heads and turn them into concrete action plans? Enter Palisadian entrepreneurship expert and business therapist, Susan Salzman.
With the power of her tenacity, Salzman took a creative idea she had from the trunk of her car to launching a full-fledged, seven-figure lifestyle brand, Little Folk Art. Ultimately, she found herself designing the nursery for “Father of the Bride II” and on the stages of “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” “Extra!” and “Entertainment Tonight.” Fast forward to now and Salzman has taken her expertise and experience to create a program, The Five Stage Framework, designed at helping her clients take the talents and abilities they innately possess and turn them into careers that showcase their skills and improve their lives.
Through her program, Salzman helps her clients achieve their overall goal by taking a holistic approach to task management by focusing on organizing each facet of life and breaking them down into manageable subcategories. Salzman is deeply passionate about helping people turn their dreams into realities and has successfully helped hundreds not only reach, but surpass, their potential through her program.
“I want us all to feel great doing what we love, regardless of if it brings monetary value or not,” Salzman explained to the Palisadian-Post. “It is important that we feel seen and heard.”
By signing up for her introductory workshop, From Scattered to Efficient, one can expect to learn The Four P’s (Perspective, Plan, Prioritize, and Productivity) and how to turn a never-ending to-do list into a structured action plan that allows for a clear mind and maximum productivity. From there, Salzman offers a quarterly in-depth, four-week workshop that expands on the introductory workshop and aims at obliterating overwhelm, structuring priorities and eliminating roadblocks to reach all goals. Clients can expect to learn new strategies, hear from guest experts and receive tailored guidance. Whether it is learning how to navigate and optimize the use of social media, learning how to prepare for a TED Talk, or anything in between, Salzman knows a pro to bring in for help.
“As we are going so 2D [in today’s world], we aren’t going to an office and we aren’t around a boardroom table. I’m bringing that to our group,” Salzman said.
If a group program does not sound optimal for a potential client, Salzman also offers private coaching. Salzman has helped Fortune 500 companies and passionate individuals alike achieve new heights and offered the Post readers a few tips for a jumpstart on streamlining their lives:
- Look at the weekly calendar. Batch and block likeminded tasks into the same bucket.
- Label them by priority and start from the top.
- Take the to-do list and choose three things that can easily be accomplished on that day. If this goal is reached, choose three more.
- Check out her podcast, Power of the Pivot Podcast on Apple Podcasts, for top-notch advice and interviews on how to change careers and start fresh with experts in an array of fields
- Sign up for Salzman’s online workshop to learn more ways to simplify your life at susansalzman.com/work-with-me. Her four-week live workshop kicks off on March 29.
“It’s really easy for us to look in the mirror and see the negatives and see what we aren’t doing rather than what we are doing, and I think that when you get into a groove or surround yourself with people trying to create the same platform, it’s elevating,” Salzman said. “It helps everybody.”
