Three young Palisadians have emerged from a talented crowd of nearly 1,500 musicians from seven countries to the semi-finals of the Music Center Spotlight arts competition.
The high school arts ran the gamut, from acting and dance to classical and jazz performances, all under the eagle eye of Palisadian program director Jeri Gaille.
The program at the downtown music venue provides opportunities for Southern California high school students to acquire the skills they need to pursue their dreams in the performing arts, ranging from the development of performance abilities in numerous genres, to roles in arts management, along with valuable college preparedness and workforce readiness skills.
The three Palisadians, listed among 113 semi-finalists, are Valentina Shelton and Roberta Alaman, both for non-classical voice, and Mirabelle Weinbach for ballet.
They are now advancing to the next steps in this program, with the opportunity to be selected as one of 14 grand prize finalists who will perform at The Music Center’s Walt Disney Concert Hall in the Spotlight Grand Finale Performance on June 5.
