“Welcome to the sparkle squad.”
That is the slogan on Petite ‘n’ Pretty’s website, emblazoned in bold pink lettering and complemented by a photograph of four young women who boast a gentle dash of color on their lips, cheeks and eyes.
The brand officially launched on Saturday, July 21, with a big bash at the Beverly Hills Hotel’s Crystal Garden. It was a glittery, glamorous affair.
At the helm of it all is Palisadian Samantha Cutler. “I’ve always loved experimenting with beauty products,” she explained on a call with the Palisadian-Post.
Cutler remembers sitting at her mother’s makeup vanity to test out lipsticks—it was a special time that she enjoyed.
“As I got older, I [routinely] spent $10 at CVS to buy makeup,” Cutler said, referencing products by youthful brands such as ‘wet n wild beauty.’ They were fun, albeit not great on her skin.
Cutler went on to work for giant makeup brands such as MAC, Smashbox and Stila. She’s done everything in the “prestige beauty” arena from being behind the counter as a sales representative, to designing and launching top products.
“I was inspired to create a brand for young people that is also exceptional quality,” Cutler explained. All of Petite ‘n’ Pretty’s products are proven safe and marketed toward “petites in their creative journeys”—whatever that might encompass.
“We’re very gender inclusive,” said Cutler, whose 7-year-old son tests out glitter products while his 3-year-old sister applies lipstick before summer camp. “Glitter gives kids confidence and inspires creativity,” Cutler concluded.
In addition to the Gen Glitter hair and body sparkle, Petite ‘n’ Pretty’s signature products include an eye shadow palette with shimmery, sparkly and satin shades.
An artistry brush is provided for easy application, because as Cutler clarified, “Young creatives don’t tend to have brushes.” She explained that the wrapping is made of paper instead of plastic, as “those plastic casings can have sharp edges when they break.”
For lips, a 10k shine gloss offers “no tacky feel,” simply “a sheer wash of color.”
While Cutler emphasized that “pretty is a feeling from within,” all her products aim to give young people a launching pad to seize the day with spirit and conviction.
