Current Palisadian Matthew Perry and former community member Matt LeBlanc joined the cast of “Friends” for a return to its original home, Stage 24, at Warner Bros. Studio lot in Burbank, for a highly anticipated reunion special.
HBO Max released a two-minute trailer of “Friends: The Reunion” on Wednesday, May 19, and got fans amped to see the cast members together again since the show ran more than 25 years ago.
The trailer shows Perry and LeBlanc alongside Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox and David Schwimmer gathered on a re-creation of the set, playing a trivia game, doing a table read and sharing fond memories of the sitcom.
“While being a really close-knit group, we don’t see each other, all six of us, a lot,” Perry said in an interview with People magazine. Schwimmer added the entire cast only reconciled once before the reunion special, nine years ago.
“When we do get together, it’s like no time has passed,” LeBlanc shared. “We pick up right where we left off.”
The castmates shared their ideas of what each of their characters would be doing today.
Of his character, Perry said Chandler would be a “wonderful father … and a wonderful comedy writer.”
LeBlanc said Joey would have “opened a chain of sandwich shops,” to which Perry joked, “and eaten all the sandwiches.”
The special has a star-studded line up of guests, including former Palisadian Reese Witherspoon, James Corden, David Beckham, Justin Bieber, BTS, Cindy Crawford, Cara Delevingne, Lady Gaga, Elliott Gould, Kit Harington, Larry Hankin, Mindy Kaling, Thomas Lennon, James Michael Tyler, Maggie Wheeler and Malala Yousafzai.
The reunion show is slated to premiere Thursday, May 27, on HBO Max, where interested watchers can find the entire library of the former NBC show.
The award-winning, half-hour comedy “Friends” ran from 1994 to 2004 for 10 seasons on NBC and continues to have a huge following.
