
Palisadian Katie Ebert, 26, won a gold medal in the Special Olympics at the Southern California Summer Games on the campus of Long Beach State University on June 9, competing on behalf of Westside Special Olympics in three track and field events.
Ebert took silver in the adult women’s softball throw and gold in the adult women’s standing long jump on Saturday, then proceeded to win gold in her third event on Sunday, the adult women’s 100-meter run.
In addition to track and field, Ebert also participates in Special Olympics swimming, bocce and bowling. She is a classroom aide at the Kehillat Israel Early Childhood Development Center, and her father, Mark, is a coach for Westside Special Olympics. She attended Marquez and Palisades Elementary, Paul Revere and Palisades High.
