When leaving on a cherished summer family vacation, after packing more then we’ll ever need (will I really wear the red heels?), making sure the coffee maker is turned off, with the husband and children waiting in the car, yelling, “Come on old lady!” I linger just a moment to say goodbye to the cat.
Leaving Butterscotch Tailwind Muldoon, with his wise eyes and fluffy tail, my heart breaks a little.
Fortunately there is a comforting solution. Her name is Chase Holiday and she is “The Cat Nanny.”
With her own wise eyes and friendly, natural, easygoing personality, she is liked by both cats and humans.
“It’s amazing how fast this business has taken off,” the longtime Palisadian shared. “I’ve always had a special connection to cats and nothing makes me happier than making cats happy.”
Holiday explained that she saw some posts on Nextdoor seeking a cat sitter—and she was hired.
“As I began more and more jobs I saw a real opportunity to be of service in this area and started Cat Nanny,” Holiday said. “Cat owners are a special breed themselves, and if I had to be gone, I know I would want someone just like me to look after my cats—all five of them.”
Holiday has experience working and volunteering with cat rescue organizations, including with feral cats. She said that her time at Voice For The Animals allowed her to learn everything she could in a hands on situation.
She saw that many people were not really educated about their felines.
“Cats can be mysterious individuals, but there are many common questions and problems we, as their humans, all share,” Holiday said. “Some examples are what’s the best litter, pooping outside the box—known as protest poops—shy cats, sibling fighting, hairballs, and peeing or spraying.”
In order to combat the lonely kitties, left alone when the family is gone, Holiday brings interactive toys to involve and entertain her four-legged clients. They are offered feathered wands, catnip mice, rolling balls, crumbled paper and laser lights to chase, all under supervision.
“I have my tricks to make the cats under my care feel comfortable and build relationships,” Holiday explained. “I patiently gain their trust.”
Holiday will also update the family with texts and videos.
“My favorite accomplishment is to befriend the shy, frightened cat and be able to send a photo of the cat cuddled on my lap, happily purring to its owner,” she explained.
When she’s not hanging out with cats, Holiday is a professional videographer, editor, photographer, graphic artist and content creator. She has two popular award-winning, cat-centric YouYube channels: “Furball Fables” and “Crafty Kitty Cats.”
Cat Nanny’s expert services include cat care, meds and house services, such as mail pick up, plant care, security and personal assistance.
