Friends of over 30 years, Amy Russo and Michelle Good previously retired from working in the film industry to raise their families. Now, the friends are making jewelry and have Palisadians hooked on their jewelry store, Obsessed—located at 15224 Sunset Blvd.
Obsessed Jewelry relocated from Malibu and opened its Pacific Palisades doors this month.
“About 10 years ago we started making jewelry as a hobby and literally sold pieces directly off our bodies,” Russo shared with the Palisadian-Post. “We then started to host small parties for friends, and friends of friends, and word of mouth spread quickly about our unique pieces and great price point.
“We wanted to offer luxury jewelry at wholesale prices. Because we were making everything or buying directly from our suppliers, we could offer a direct to consumer ‘wholesale’ price point.”
“Obsessed Jewelry is breaking the traditional retail mold by cutting out the middleman and selling directly to you,” Good added.
The duo opened their first store in 2019 at the Malibu Country Mart, originally as a pop-up shop, but Russo and Good’s jewelry was so popular, they ended up staying for four years—withstanding the COVID-19 pandemic, fires, floods and construction.
When their cost of rent increased, the two decided to pack up and move to the Palisades.
With a “built-in” customer base from Malibu, Russo and Good’s jewelry developed a hefty following due to the originality of their luxury items, in combination with their lower price point.
“Most of our jewelry has meaning behind it. From symbols of protection, luck, love, grounding and happiness to different gemstones that have healing properties,” Russo shared. “Through our designing and researching different gemstones—rose quartz, moonstone, labradorite, onyx—we discovered the intense energy and healing properties they offer.
“We knew we needed this to be a big part of our store outside of just jewelry pieces. We now carry as many crystals and rocks as we do jewelry.”
Russo said most of the crystals come directly from mines of Brazil, and there is a large selection to choose from: From amethyst cathedrals and clear quartz points to pyrite chunks, spheres and more.
“We have first-hand seen the powerful energy they emit … People walk in our store and immediately comment on how it ‘feels so good’ in our store,” Russo added.
Described as a “multi-generational” brand that surpasses boundaries of age and time, Obsessed Jewelry is designed with pave set diamonds, rhodium plated sterling silver, 14 karat gold and semi-precious stones.
Russo and Good said they love creating a “story” with their pieces, and customers can choose from a beaded choker all the way to a 36-inch drop chain: “We combine silver, gold and diamonds and encourage our customers not to be afraid to mix all their pieces together.”
Excited to be in town, Russo and Good feel that their jewelry suits the Palisades with its “chic, classy, sexy and … bohemian,” line that can be worn to the beach or to a high-end dinner event.
“We are so excited to introduce the Palisades community to crystal energy and healing. There is nothing here like it,” Good said to the Post.
