Pacific Palisades youth, ages 3 to 15, are invited to take part in the 39th Annual Palisades Optimist-YMCA Track Meet this Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Carl Lewis Track at Palisades High School. Moms, dads, grandparents and friends are all encouraged to enjoy the festivities. Every participating child is eligible for all applicable track and field events, giving everyone a chance to take part in competitive events in a positive environment. All ages will compete in track sprint events, with 400 yards being the longest distance event. Athletes age 7-and-up can participate in the long jump, while those 9-and-up can also do high jump and shotput. The event costs $30 and includes a T-shirt and participation ribbons. Registration forms are available at www.ymcala.org/pm and may also be submitted at the YMCA on Via de la Paz from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. For more information, call the YMCA at (310) 454-5591. Proceeds from the track meet support the works of the Palisades-Malibu YMCA, which strives to strengthen the foundations of our community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Everyone is welcome at the YMCA; financial assistance is available for those in need.
