Dunk Contest Coming to Pali High | El Medio Bluffs
Some of the world’s best dunkers will be slamming on the rims of Palisades Charter High School on May 5 for “Dunk MS,” a charity dunk contest benefiting multiple sclerosis research.
The charity has received over $15,000 in donations so far, and will be auctioning sports game prizes, giving raffle prizes and free tacos in the Pali High gym.

Steven Bochco Dies at 74 | Rustic Canyon
Steven Bochco, creator of hit TV series like “NYPD Blue” and “Doogie Houser M.D.,” died in Rustic Canyon on April 1 after a battle with leukemia. The 10-time Emmy Award-winner was known for his elaborate story lines and revolutionizing the TV crime drama.
In 2014, Bochco received a stem cell transplant prolonging his life for four more years until passing in his sleep on Sunday. He was 74.

Kids’ Yoga Day Returns | The Village
Palisadian Teresa Power will host the third annual Kids’ Yoga Day on Friday, April 6, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Palisades Recreation Center. The first 50 kids will receive a free yoga mat and gift back. Food and water will be provided by Whole Foods, Bristol Farms and Nestle.
Power will kick off the day at 11 a.m. at Palisades Charter Elementary School by showing students a five-minute yoga routine that will be practiced by kids all across the globe at 11 a.m. in their local time zones, “creating a wave of yoga beginning in Malaysia and ending in Hawaii,” Power explained.

Lash Estate Trial Set to Begin | The Highlands
An estate trial to determine the rightful owner of property left behind by the late James Allen Lash, a suspected CIA operative who claimed to be an alien-hybrid, is scheduled to begin on April 9.
After Lash’s body was found in an SUV in The Highlands on July 17, 2015, investigators discovered his collection of 1,200 guns, six-and-a-half tons of ammunition and $230,000 in cash.
Now, two different women who claim they had relationships with Lash and were coerced into buying some of the items in his estate are facing off against Lash’s family members to obtain the millions of dollars worth of property in an ongoing legal battle between the parties.
The trial is scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m.

Producer Opens Movie to Strong Reviews | El Medio Bluffs
“Beirut,” the latest movie produced by El Medio resident Mike Weber, opens on Friday, April 11, with strong reviews for lead actors Jon Hamm and Rosamund Pike, and what Variety has called its “agreeably old-school form of cinematic espionage.”
