This year the non-profit organization A Place Called Home (APCH) is honoring Palisadian Kenneth Karmin at the Gala For The Children on Nov. 19.
“We’ve been involved with APCH for 15 years and have witnessed that kids’ lives can be turned around with a safe place to be and people who treat them with respect, teach them self-sufficiency and show them a way up,” said Karmin, a Riviera resident who serves as CEO of Ortho Mattress, a manufacturer and mattress retailer headquartered in Southern California.

A Place Called Home is a non-profit organization that provides opportunities to children and teens in South Central Los Angeles with educational programs, mentorships and counseling.
A primary goal of APCH is to keep students enrolled in school and support them to be contributing citizens to society in a positive way.
“Our involvement has had an enormous impact on our family. It’s offered insight into what’s really important and that is that all of us can use an assist in life,” Karmin told the Palisadian-Post.
Karmin is being honored for his dedication as a co-chair of APCH events and as a founder of the Garden to Table program.
“The APCH helps kids become the person they want to be. These kids go on to college, jobs and most importantly, to helping others,” Karmin said. “They are the best of our society, and I am honored to be a part of their present and future.”
Karmin is receiving the 2015 A Place Called Home Debrah Constance Humanitarian Award.
