Palisades Charter High School’s annual Showcase Night, which puts student visual and performance art on display, will be held Thursday, April 7.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the showcase will run through 8:30 p.m, featuring performances by the school’s drumline, symphonic band, winter guard, wind ensemble, jazz band, musical theater, theater ensemble, advanced dance and more.
Performances will be held both indoors and outdoors, at Mercer Hall and the Quad.
Band Director Tyler Farrell said this is his first VAPA Showcase at Pali High and he “could not be more excited.”
“This is a great way to celebrate all of our talented students and showcase all of their hard work through the school year,” he said to the Post. “Our goal was to blend the excitement felt from Coachella with the imagination and intimacy of the Getty.”
There will also be a visual art show in Mercer Hall. Previous art on display includes ceramics, paintings, photography, sculpture and film screenings.
“It will be a great night of art, music, performances and artistic students doing their thing,” Steil said to the Palisadian-Post. “It is a great night to see young artists from Pali High.”
The Palisades Charter High School Visual and Performing Arts Department’s mission is “to create a learning environment where a student can explore, create and develop the skills needed for the creation and the appreciation of visual and performing art forms,” according to the department’s website.
“Our department has worked to create a program of quality, rigor, choice, with opportunities for creative expression and continuous growth. Students who have graduated from our program have been accepted to art schools and universities throughout the country,” the description continues. “Upon completion of their college studies, many were able to find employment in their desired fields of interest.”
Steil previously emphasized that the evening is “for the students, but it’s also for the community.”
