After winning the City Section’s inaugural Open Division team championships, the Palisades High tennis team is back in action at the Individual tournament and two of the Dolphins’ four singles players and all three doubles teams advanced to yesterday’s quarterfinals at Balboa Tennis Center in Encino.
In singles, Alex Hart and Sophia Arvin won their first-round matches before falling in the second round to the top two seeds. Twins Ireland and Sophia Amato, seeded fifth and sixth respectively, played Venice sisters Christine and Mae Canete on Wednesday. Rena Lin of Granada Hills is the No. 1 seed. Semifinals are today and the finals are next Tuesday, Dec. 5, at noon.
In doubles, Palisades freshmen Noe Winter and Halsey Hulse are seeded No. 1 in the 32-team draw and won their first two matches, as did second-seeded Alex Miller and Caroline Ross and third-seeded Maddy Goore and Kalea Martin.
If seedings held yesterday, Miller and Ross meet Goore and Martin in today’s semifinals. Ross paired with Gigi Feingold to win the doubles title last season, edgingGoore and Hart in three sets in an all-Palisades final.
