Coach Kevin Donovan has purposely scheduled tough opponents for the Palisades High boys lacrosse team in an effort to prepare the Dolphins forpostseason play.
On Saturday, Pali High’s varsity squad hosted Brentwood School in an intersectional matchup and the Dolphins scored 10 unanswered goals to prevail 11-3 and even their record at 2-2. It was precisely the response Donovan wanted from his team following a 15-5 loss at Agoura four days earlier.

“We struggled with possession against Agoura o that’s somthing we wanted to improve this game,” said Donovan, who took over the Palisades program last spring. “We’re playing a lot of highly-ranked teams and that will only help us down the road.”
While Donovan focuses on the offense, assistant coach Will Manning concentrates on defense.
“I played at Lehigh and he played at Colgate–in fact I beat him my senior year for the Patriot League championship,” Donovan said. “He’s a long-stick middie and I’m attack so it works out well. We run the Santa Monica Dragons youth program together.”
Macchio Rissone scored four goals Saturday, including a wrap-around to put Palisades in the lead to stay with 2:24 left in the first half.
Jack O’Rourke, Alessandro Casso and Zane Daily each scored two goals and James Burke added one for the Dolphins, who benefited from a 12-4 advantage in faceoffs. Spencer Au made 11 saves.
Palisades travels to Mira Costa on Friday and to San Fernando Valley Academy next Wednesday.
