The City Section released its basketball playoff divisions Monday and Palisades High’s boys and girls teams are in Division I.
Last year, the Dolphins won the inaugural Open Division girls title. The best eight teams in the City, regardless of division, will be selected for the Open Division.
Team placement was based on Maxpreps’ rankings over the past three seasons. Basketball divisions will be finalized Nov. 3, pending team appeals.
Joining Palisades in Division I for the girls are Western League rivals Fairfax, University, LACES and Westchester. The other two Western League teams, Hamilton and Venice, are in Division II.
Palisades’ boys squad was seeded No. 1 in the City Division I playoffs last year but was upset in the first round by Sylmar.
Also in Division I are Western League rivals Westchester, Fairfax, University, Hamilton and LACES. The other Western League team, Venice, is in Division II.
