It’s all about records for the Palisades High girls volleyball team, which swept University, 25-6, 25-11, 25-13, Monday for its 95th consecutive Western League victory. The Dolphins are pursuing their eighth league crown in a row, having won it every year since 2011. They were back in action Wednesday at Fairfax and will host Westchester on Friday.
Last weekend Palisades traveled to La Crescenta for its third tournament of the year, the Crescenta Valley Classic. After making the finals of the Chatsworth Invitational and the semifinals of the Venice Invitational, the Dolphins were hoping to finish first in a field that included several other City Section schools. In pool play they beat South Hills and Hoover two sets to zero before hitting their first bump in the road, falling to La Canada, 2-1. They lost 2-0 to Mayfield, beat West Covina 2-0, fell to Louisville 2-0 and were eliminated in the Silver Division playoffs by Burbank, which prevailed 25-18, 19-25, 15-10.
