You could cut the tension with a knife during last week’s girls tennis match between Palisades and Brentwood.

The pressure built with every point but the visiting Dolphins earned a crucial point in doubles when the No. 2 duo of senior captain Becca Rosenblatt and freshman Penelope Michal beat the Eagles’ No. 3 team in a tense tiebreaker to give Palisades a 7-5 lead going into the third and final rotation in the round robin format. Palisades held on to prevail 10-8 and improved to 11-1-1.
Sophie Szeder, Anais Israels and Nicole Nguyen each won two of three singles sets while Palisades’ top tandem of Ella Engel and Sashi Gancheva won two of three in doubles. Erika Tontti paired with Simone McClary to pull out a 7-5 win against Brentwood’s No. 3 team.
Palisades is unbeaten in Western League play and travels to Newport Beach for the Sage Hill Tournament this weekend.
