She’s only a freshman, but already Sarah Bentley is already making a name for herself in cross country.
Bentley took second place overall in 18:33.50 to lead the Palisades High girls varsity cross country team to first place in the Red Division of the Bell-Jeff Invitational in Griffith Park.
Junior Kimia Samandi was seventh in 19:19.20, sophomore Brittany Darrow was 13th in 19:47.80 and senior Shannon Lee was 19th in 20:06.90. Senior Ariel Pollack clocked 21:04.00 and freshman Elisa Kim ran 21:08.51.
The Dolphins had 88 points, followed by Arroyo (94) and Quartz Hill (129).
In the boys varsity seeded race, Palisadian Charlie Sherman of Loyola was second in 14:35.10 to lead the Cubs to the team title.
Pali High senior Jakob Pollack took eighth in 14:59.60, sophomore Brent Smith was 22nd in 15:23.30 and senior Jack Hockley was 26th in 15:36.50. Ben Hansen ran 16:07.50, Hunter Parker clocked 16:52.30, senior Jonathan Flores ran 17:08.10, Gabriel Fuligni clocked 17:22.80, Joseph Reed 18:08.90 and Galaan Abdisa ran 18:21.30. Palisades finished fourth with 160 points.
