Palisades High girls basketball coach Adam Levine expected a tough game Saturday in the Public vs. Private Extravaganza at Burroughs High in Burbank.
That’s exactly what he and the Dolphins got against gritty Newbury Park. Neither team led by more than six points the entire game, but point guard Alexis Pettis drove the lane for a go-ahead layup with 32 seconds left and the Dolphins hung on for a 46-45 triumph—what could prove to be a key win as they fight for a City Section Open Division playoff spot.

Junior forward Jane Nwaba led the way with 18 points, Pettis had 13 and sophomore guard Sammie Arnold had five for Palisades, which trailed 34-32 after three quarters.

“Games like this come down to heart and bring out your inner self,” guard Hayley Amador said. “We prefer to get up and down the court quickly so we have more of a rhythm.”
On Friday, Palisades rebounded from its back-to-back league losses at Hamilton and Westchester with a 76-34 blowout of visiting University.
