While winning the City championship is the primary goal year in and year out for the Palisades High boys volleyball team, the first step towards accomplishing that is capturing the Western League crown.
The Dolphins have won the league title outright every season since 2015 and are well on their way to extending their streak after Monday’s 25-12, 25-22, 25-16 victory over Venice, which moved them to 9-0 atop the standings with three matches left. Palisades’ last league loss was at Venice on March 24, 2014 and it was avenged 17 days later, earning the Dolphins a share of first place in Coach Carlos Gray’s first year.
Palisades wraps up league play versus Hamilton, University and Fairfax and has one more tournament before the City playoffs, the Redondo Varsity Classic on April 22-23. The Dolphins reached the semifinals of the Dos Pueblos Invitational at UC Santa Barbara in March and made the semifinals at the Chatsworth Invitational the following weekend.
