Palisades Charter High School student and resident of Marquez Knolls Michelle Margiotta has delivered more than 1,250 snack bags to Ronald McDonald House that have been donated by the local community, an effort the Palisadian-Post reported on in April 2020. Some of the bags have been assembled and donated by local families, with additional support from Fancy Feet Dance Studios, but the majority of snack bags were donated and assembled by Pali High students.
During a January delivery, it was said that Margiotta’s latest drop off was an “amazingly unexpected gift” as some of their pantry staples were running low in supply. Margiotta will continue to collect donations and can be reached at michellemargiotta@icloud.com for anyone who wants to volunteer or donate.
Locally founded environmental organization Resilient Palisades hosted a recent visit from Refillery LA—a “mobile refill station offering eco-friendly soaps, detergents, personal care products and more.” The van was parked on Temescal Canyon Road on a Thursday afternoon.
Nicole Carmickle, practicing manager at Saint John’s Physician Partners since 2016, was recently presented the Patriot Award, which is a collective recognition given by the Department of Defense, Secretary of Defense and Employer Support of Guard and Reserve to a manager who exhibits “outstanding support to a service-member employee.” According to the service-member employee who nominated Carmickle, she is “incredibly supportive and assistive of my military commitments, and having this reinforcement allows me to be present, productive and purposeful in life.” Carmickle has been with Providence Health and Services since 2011.
