A few weeks ago, Eli Eglee was on a walk with her boyfriend, Ben Hershman, and her dog, Julep, on the Bluffs early in the morning when he proposed to her.
“What a surprise!” Eglee’s mom, Ninkey Dalton, shared.
Reverend Dr. K. Edward Brandt, who served as senior pastor of Pacific Palisades Presbyterian Church, was honored with the Lancaster Theological Seminary’s highest honor for excellence in specialized ministry, the 2020 Robert Moss Award for Excellence in Pastoral Ministry. Brandt is a former U.S. Army Chaplain, according to information provided by Lancaster Theological Seminary, who retired at the rank of Brigadier General after serving 31 years.

Palisadian Dr. Patrick Whelan was invited to speak at a recent Palisades Optimist Club virtual meeting, which was held over Zoom. Whelan, who taught on the faculty at Harvard Medical School for 20 years, is currently a member of the UCLA Medical School Faculty. He addressed club members about special risks to seniors from COVID-19 that may not be commonly known or discussed, along with treatments.
“A little known, but impressive, part of his background is that he last spoke to our members when he participated in the 1971 Pacific Palisades Optimist Oratorical Contest,” Rich Wilken shared ahead of the meeting.
