
The National League of Young Men Pacific Palisades/Brentwood held the class of 2021 Etiquette dinner, with young men attending from the local chapter as well as young women from the Westside Chapter of the National Charity League

The Palisades Newcomers and Friends Club received a tour of the Griffith Park Observatory from host Kara Knack, a longtime associate who detailed the history and many exhibits in the facility. Knack authored an installation containing more than 1,000 pieces of jewelry, which highlight a timeline of earth.

A Pacific Palisades-based donation drive benefited the West Los Angeles and South LA animal shelters. “We took multiple trips to four shelters and are mailing some items to one and sent a Kuranda bed to another,” organizer Nancy Jackson explained. “With the cash donations we received, I was able to order 11 Kuranda beds for the shelters.”

Palisades Charter High School sophomore Julia Abbott won the Santa Monica Lions Club’s annual Student Speakers Contest, open to all high school students on the Westside. This year’s topic was “Homelessness in California: What’s the Solution?” The next contest will be March 8 at the Beverly Hills Community Center.

Malia Mitchell, a senior at Palisades Charter High School, was awarded the 2019 fall semester Entrepreneur Award—a certificate and check for $500—by the Rotary Club of Pacific Palisades. The bi-annual award was established by the club to honor more than 100 students who have part-time jobs after school and/or on weekends.
