The Optimist Club of Pacific Palisades held a memorial bench dedication ceremony in memory of long time member, friend and military veteran Jack Blackwood last weekend. Community members and friends gathered to honor Blackwood, who died last year, in a short ceremony. A plaque was unveiled in his honor.
The Optimist Club is a community organization dedicated to enhancing opportunities and activities for the youth of the community and the greater region. Through charitable activities and fundraising the club is able to give grants to youth organizations throughout the Palisades.
Meetings are held the first four Tuesdays of each month at Aldersgate Retreat Center at 7:30 a.m. for breakfast, fellowship and an informative program.
