New PPCC Chair | Pacific Palisades
At its January 23 meeting, presiding officer David Card announced that George Wolfberg has resigned as PPCC chair. Wolfberg has become PPCC chair emeritus and Vice-Chair Card was unanimously approved as the new PPCC Chair, pursuant to PPCC’s bylaws.
“We thank and honor George for his many years of extraordinary service to PPCC and the community, and we extend our best wishes to him as he continues to battle serious medical issues,” representatives from PPCC shared in a statement. “We are also grateful to David for his willingness to take on this important leadership role. In George’s moving words: ‘I find great comfort in knowing that our historic Community Council is in such good hands.’”

Sunday Hike | Temescal Gateway Park
Temescal Canyon Association is getting ready for its next Sunday Hike, which will take place on February 2. The group will depart at 8 a.m. and explore Zuma Beach over to Point Dume for brunch at Paradise Cove.
The group meets in the upper Temescal Gateway Park parking lot near the dining hall. Free parking passes will be provided.

Palisades Symphony Orchestra | Upper El Medio
Palisades Symphony Orchestra will be performing selections by Bach, Haydn and Tchaikovsky on Sunday, February 9, at Palisades Lutheran Church.
The concert, with Joel B. Lish as conductor, will feature J.S. Bach’s “Orchestral Suite No. 2,” Tchaikovsky’s “Rococo Variations for Cello and Orchestra” with Jason Pegio as soloist and Haydn’s “Symphony No. 101, ‘The Clock.’”
The free concert begins at 7:30 p.m. at 15905 Sunset Blvd.

Pacific Palisades Garden Club | Via Mesa
Pacific Palisades Garden Club will host speaker Jeff Moore and the topic “Under the Spell of Succulents” on Monday, February 3, at 7:30 p.m.
Moore will present a broad overview of succulents in cultivation. His talk will focus on the history of succulents, growers, collectors, landscaping and specialty gardens developed with rare crested and caudiciform succulents, such as bonsai and the undersea coral reef bed garden.
Moore owns Solana Succulents nursery in Solana Beach, near San Diego. Moore will have plants and books for sale at this meeting.
The event will take place at Pacific Palisades Woman’s Club at 901 Haverford Ave.
