Upcoming July Storytimes | Palisades Branch Library
Palisades Branch Library will host several events in the month of July, including Story-Craft Time on July 7, 14, 21 and 28 at 4 p.m. and Pajama Storytime on July 11 and 25 at 7 p.m.
Babies, toddlers and kids ages 3 and up are invited to “hear a story and make something of it” at the library during Story-Craft Time.
Pajama Storytime is designed for children of all ages—with “parents and teddy bears welcome.”
All events take place in person at 861 Alma Real Drive.

Event Series | Pacific Palisades
Zócalo Public Square, with Palisadian Moira Shourie serving as executive director, will kick off a four-part event series titled “How Should Societies Remember Their Sins?” on July 12.
The series, funded by the Mellon Foundation, will “explore the sins we have tried to remember, those we have tried to forget, and how individuals and institutions in the United States and around the world are finding new ways to honor victims of the past to build a more just society,” according to a statement.
The first part will be “What Is Our Responsibility for Our Government’s Wars?” on Tuesday, July 12, at 7 p.m.—available for viewing online. The evening will be moderated by William Sturkey, a University of North Carolina historian.

New & Used Toy Drive | Pacific Palisades
Los Angeles Sanitation & Environment City Facilities Recycling Program will host a new and gently used toy drive for children through August 26.
“Donated toys will be provided to the Los Angeles County Toy Loan Program, which provides access to toys to more than 30,000 low-income children each year,” according to a flyer about the drive.
Residents, businesses and city employees are invited to donate educational games and toys, video games and video game consoles, dolls and stuffed animals, and toys for children with special needs or disabilities.
Public drop-off locations are open Monday through Friday, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., including West LA District Yard, located at 2027 Stoner Avenue.

Paint-Out, Pastel Demonstration | Malibu
Allied Artists of the Santa Monica Mountains and Seashore will host a paint-out and pastel demonstration, led by Virginia Kamhi, at Point Dume Beach on July 9 beginning at 9 a.m.
“[Point] Dume State Beach features headlands, rocky coves and extensive sandy beaches,” according to a statement from Allied Artists. “Hike up the headlands trail for views from Santa Monica Bay to Catalina Island and the north Malibu Coast. Enjoy the rock climbers on the cliffs, paint the waves crashing on the rocks or look north for vast views up the coast.”
