Rick Caruso Hires Political Consulting Firm | Los Angeles
Developer Rick Caruso has hired a high-profile political consulting firm, a sign that he may run for mayor of Los Angeles.
According to Los Angeles Magazine, Caruso hired Ace Smith and his firm Bearstar Strategies—the firm has previously worked as a consultant on Kamala Harris’ campaign for U.S. Senate, Gavin Newsom’s campaign for governor and Katie Porter’s campaign for Congress.
A spokesperson for Caruso told Los Angeles Magazine that he is “seriously considering a run for mayor.”
“And as part of that consideration, he has worked with numerous people, including Bearstar Strategies, to analyze the situation and determine how best he can help solve LA’s mounting problems,” the spokesperson said.
The primary for the 2022 Los Angeles mayoral election will take place on June 7 with the top two candidates facing each other Election Day on November 8, 2022.
If Caruso joins the race, he will run against a number of candidates, including United States Representative Karen Bass, LA City Councilmembers Kevin de León and Joe Buscaino, City Attorney Mike Feuer, City Association of Los Angeles President and CEO Jessica Lall, and businessman Mel Wilson.

Palisades Charter High School will present its fall play, “Dangerous Corner,” November 4 through 13 in Mercer Hall.
“But I can’t do it,” said the character Robert Caplan in the 1932 play—the first of many by prolific English writer J.B. Priestley. “I’ve lived among illusions.”
“Dangerous Corner” follows the two main leads, Robert and Freda Caplan, as they entertain their close friends, including one eager to fit in with guests at a get together, when a comment sets off a succession of revelations that take the characters down unknown rabbit holes filled with secrets and psychological zigzags set to galvanize the audience with fascination and intrigue.
Performances will take place November 4 through 6 and 11 through 13 at 7 p.m. General admission is $16, $10 for students and $25 for VIP seats. Tickets can be obtained at go.palihigh.org/GoFan. Proof of COVID-19 vaccine will be required.

Community Compost | The Highlands
Resilient Palisades will host a composting event in The Highlands on Sunday, November 7, from 1 to 2 p.m. to “learn how to turn your food scraps into rich soil for your garden,” according to a flyer.
The event will feature a live composting demonstration, taught by compost expert Valeria Serna, highlighting ways to fertilize household waste using an urban worm bag compost system—no matter the size of the residence.
Instead of stuffing the trash or sink disposal with old food particles, Serna will walk attendees through how to make a food blanket over the soil for worms to eat and then, according to Resilient Palisades, “leave behind their castings in the lower layer of the bin where composted materials can be harvested.”
For more information or to register to watch Serna arrange a new worm composting bin, visit resilientpalisades.org/events/live-composting-demonstration. The address will be given upon RSVP.
