Library Hosts Martial Arts Champion | The Village
On Thursday, June 28, at 4 p.m., Palisades Branch Library will welcome a visit from Canadian kickboxer Baxter Humby. Known as the “one-armed bandit” because he had his right hand amputated at birth, Humby’s sports career has defied every expectation. He will give a presentation about his experience in martial arts, followed by a demonstration of some of his techniques. Teenagers will be invited to try out some moves.

Hiker Rescued | The Riviera
On Saturday, June 23, at approximately 5 p.m., Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a call from Sullivan Canyon Park in The Riviera to rescue a man who fell while hiking. He was found clinging to the side of a hill before he was taken by a helicopter to paramedics and released.

Taste of Porta Via | The Village
Ahead of its opening in Palisades Village on Sept. 22, Palisadian Peter Garland and his team will roll out the Taste of Porta Via program on the Fourth of July. Italian wedding cookies will be handed out to those who attend the parade, as well as fresh-baked muffins and fruit parfaits for those who attend the pre-parade reception.

Mi-Lina Hosts Open House | The Village
Members of the community were invited to attend an open house at Mi-Lina Jewelry, located at 970 Monument Street in Suite 112. Those who attended were able to meet shop owner Lynn Acorda-Baldo, who opened the Palisades location in May 2018, and also see the various wares the store sells, including the Fiona Crown, Janella Cirque, Matti Fashio and Arabella Cluster collections.
