U.S. Census to Start Delivering Materials | Pacific Palisades
The U.S. Census Bureau will start dropping off 2020 Census questionnaire packets this week.
Materials were being hand-delivered on March 15 but the Census Bureau suspended all fieldwork for this operation on March 18 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Temporary field staff has been trained to observe social distancing protocols and all operations will be contactless.
“This operation is crucial to ensure a complete and accurate count of all communities, which helps guide hundreds of billions of dollars in public and private sector spending per year,” according to a press release.
People can respond online, by phone or by using the paper form that will be in the packet.

Virtual Career Day Series | Palisades Branch Library
Palisades Branch Library YA Librarian Jessica Levy is putting together a panel of recent college study abroad students for a Wednesday Virtual Career Day series.
“Our teen attendees really enjoyed our college career day panel and this would be a good way to inspire teens throughout LA to pursue study abroad opportunities in the future,” Levy wrote in an email.
Young adults who have participated in a study abroad program or took a gap year living/working abroad in the past two to three years who are interested in speaking over Zoom on a panel with others are encouraged to reach out to Levy.
“I am especially interested in students who lived abroad for a year and had to learn another language and performed their studies in that language,” Levy wrote. “But I would also be interested in hearing from anyone willing to share their study abroad experience, including semester programs.”
The panel would take place on a Wednesday between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. Email Levy directly for more information at jlevy@lapl.org.
