An eastbound motorcyclist on Sunset Boulevard swerved into opposing lanes between Chautauqua Boulevard and Brooktree Road on Sunday, and struck a westbound Lexus. The impact of that collision threw the 2008 black motorcycle, its driver and passenger into an eastbound Jetta, according to Westside LAPD detectives. The accident occurred at 5:05 p.m., and Fire Station 69 and 19 paramedics transported the two victims to a local hospital. ‘We were returning to the Palisades and saw a car smashed at Brooktree and Sunset,’ said resident Chris Arvin. ‘One ambulance had just departed and another person, who appeared to be unconscious, was lying on the ground. It was a nasty scene and a colossal mess.’ According to detectives, there were no severe injuries. The Jetta sustained moderate damage, but damage to the Lexus and the motorcycle was still undetermined. Arvin reported that police and firefighters managed to keep the road open. ‘It was amazing they way they arranged for traffic to go through,’ he said.
